SCI-FI AT MATHESON LIBRARY

Monash University Library invites you to an afternoon lecture and a panel discussion with the wider science fiction community.

The event will complement the (Un)Ethical Futures: Utopia, Dystopia and Science Fiction conference being hosted by Monash University and will include opportunities to view Science Fiction items held in the Library’s Rare Books collection, which features journals and books as well as significant donations from the Melbourne Science Fiction Club and John Foyster’s fanzines.

ABOUT THE RARE BOOKS COLLECTION

The Monash University Library Rare Books Collection is comprised of materials considered rare because of their age, uniqueness or physical beauty. The collection holds over 170,000 items and is particularly strong in Australian and English literature and history produced between 1660 and 1800. There are also strengths in children’s literature, science fiction, comics, fairy tales, French literature, Australiana, cookery, and artists’ books.
